WHAT’S hot and happening at the CAFÉ? On Saturday, 21st November, from 1:30 to 5:00pm, the Climate Action Forum Eurobodalla will be holding a meeting to address and discuss the issues of Global Warming.
There are Global Warming sceptics around the world, but at Moruya High School, a group of students are hoping to get the word out, to hopefully influence others to even take a small step by cutting their own household emissions.
The meeting is open to the public to come along to hear all the speakers, including global climate change authorities, Dr. Mark Diesendorf and Dr. John Kaye. Dr. Mark Diesendorf is an author and world authority on energy generation and teachers at the University of NSW in the Institute of Environmental Studies. Dr. John Kaye was elected to the NSW Legislative Council in 2007. He was a teacher and researcher at the University of NSW where he specialised in sustainable energy and greenhouse issues.
A number of local groups including Coastwatchers, South East Region Conservation Alliance [SERCA], Clean Energy for Eternity [CEFE] and the Eurobodalla Greens are working with the students from the Moruya High School Environment Group to host this Climate Action Forum in Moruya.
Those attending will also be treated by local musicians Damian Coen and Danny Freeman. Please come along, listen to the music, listen to the speeches and come with an open mind. There will be tea and cakes available.Members of the audience will be encouraged to ask questions to the panel and express their points of view. |

The next round of the U/15s Girls basketball competition was held in Narrandera on Friday 30th October. The group of 7 students travelled to Narrandra on Thursday and were greeted with a dinner provided by the home team at their school. This gave the students a chance to interact with each other before the game the next day.
Early the following morning the students of Narrandera High turned up to their local basketball stadium to watch the game. It was a close game the whole way through but Moruya managed to keep a consistent lead right till the finish. The students beat Narrandra convincingly with all girls playing a great game. This is a huge achievement for Moruya High School as it qualifies the girls for the Final 8 State Championships in Terrigal in a couple of weeks.
