Moruya High School operates on a 10 day cycle. Junior students attend six 50 minute periods each day. Senior students have an additional period at the beginning of the school day, commencing at 8:30am.

The school offers a diverse curriculum that is driven by the students. The range of staff expertise and experience allows the school, unlike many others, to offer elective subjects based on yearly student selections. However, traditionally rigorous academic subjects are always offered for students interested in pursuing tertiary pathways, as are subjects catering for students that need to develop skills to enter the workforce. Also, creative and performing arts subjects have always had an important place at Moruya High School, from year 7 right through to year 12.
