Moruya Science faculty has an excellent reputation with a high number of students moving on to science based university courses and careers. Four courses are offered in both Years 11 and 12 – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth and Environmental Science. Currently all of these courses are running with strong numbers of students in each course.
The faculty has five fully functioning science laboratories and teaching has an emphasis on practical science.A wide range of student interests and abilities are catered for with Year 10 rotations through science disciplines and teachers and a dedicated boys and girls class in year 9. Talented students have the opportunity to attend extension activities such as Sieman’s Science Schools, Honeywell Engineering Summer School, and the National Youth Science Forums. Numerous excursions form part of the curriculum and include- Stream watch river monitoring, senior biology excursions, Royal Easter show and year 9 extension excursions.
The faculty also offers agriculture in years 9 to 12 and has a very well developed agriculture plot.
The excellent facilities, dedicated staff and quality programs give students the opportunity to excel in science and to carry this forward to university placements within science faculties at numerous universities.
